Localization at scale

Industry, newsroom, and international-education work in Beijing and Seoul — most recently on AI imaging and video products at Meitu.
01 / Industry
I worked on how Meitu’s AI imaging and video apps speak to Korean users — their interface copy, their synthetic Korean voices, and their privacy language.
Ran Korean localization quality assurance across 12+ consumer imaging apps, including Meitu, BeautyCam, and VMake, adapting interface and promotional copy to Korean linguistic, cultural, and user-experience expectations.
Contributed the Korean-language evaluation to a comparative benchmark of AI video translation systems, assessing VMake’s subtitle accuracy, synthesized Korean speech prosody, and lip-sync quality.
Analyzed how Korean consumers and fans might receive a proposed Meitu × PLAVE collaboration, linking audience sentiment and cultural fit to likely commercial outcomes.
Reviewed VMake’s Korean privacy and consent language under Korea’s personal information protection framework and flagged wording that could confuse users; several of my revisions were adopted in the AI Privacy Policy.
Where industry meets research: judging whether a synthetic Korean voice and its lip-sync feel natural is the applied side of my thesis question — when does an AI presenter feel human, and when does it feel eerie?
